Re: Desired admin selection process...
This keeps going on, and on, and on, and on, and... Well.. I hope it doesn't go till infinity :s
ok i know i am being off topic, but can anyone please explain what the topic was about?
As far as i remember topic subject is decided by the topic creator, which in this topic happens to be Aktel.786. who quoted pc-gan, asking for us to give out suggestions.
So, discussing about those ideas are ok.
But i don't remember aktel.786 ever saying to discuss about:
1. The qualification of other forum staffs, or this forum.
2. The good old contradictory deeds of mig33 staffs.
3. And claiming that, some moderators deleted someone's posts.
I know that one can complain against moderators in the seperate section of this forum. But why this topic?
I am positively confused. Can anyone explain?

Re: Desired admin selection process...
they are still fighting. ****sigh*****
arabian I just have checked moderation history. any of ur post hasnt got deleted. you have been accusing staffs for no reason now and then.
here is a snap.
I guess now this topic should be locked while users seem to have no more ideas remaining apart from fighting each other.
what do you guys say? should we lock this topic or give it a final chance?

Re: Desired admin selection process...
It's called a comedy of errors. . Forum staff are being dragged into this topic time n again n are left no choice but to defend themselves against false allegations. . I now propose that we ignore anything posted which aint relevant to the topic. . Why waste valuable time on things irrelevant to this topic. . If you've something important to say, open a new thread we'l be glad to answer all queries there. .

tips for mig33team in selecting room administrator
It's not an easy job to be a Administrator in a big or extremely active
community like mig33. Lots of times you have to put up with things that
people in their age group should know better and if you're well known,
being impartial can become an issue at times. I know this from personal
experience and truthfully. the mods and administration go about and
keep the order and peace and make places like mig33 an awesome place.
Just remember that they are as human as you and I and while they make
the occasional mistake, do have the best interest of the mig33
community at heart. It doesn't hurt once in awhile to thank them for
what can seem like a thankless job.
Too often, it seems to them that Modding is a thankless task.
Around
mig33 it seems like being a Playground Monitor....stopping fights from
those who should know better, people tattling to you enough to make you
crazy. Lots of time and effort to try to come up with solutions to
problems only to have both sides gang up on you with complaints about
it, no matter how fair you try to be.
The wonder to me is that the Admins find anyone willing to shoulder the burdens of Moddom.??????
Administrator Tips (procedure the staff should follow when selecting good administrator)
1. Have Administrator Rules and Guidelines
This
removes any doubt in regards to what a Administrator should and
shouldn't do. It also gives you something to point to whe the time
comes to correct or remove a moderator.
2. Administrator is not a Promoter
You
chose the Administrator to moderate our rooms. Their job is not to
become a promoter unless you specifically made that clear. Generally,
if you appoint to generate profit in mig33, you did it for the wrong
reason. this applies to (MERCHANT)
3. Choose your Administrator carefully
An
active poster isn't necessarily a good candidate to be a good
Administrator. Just because he/she posts alot doesn't mean he/she is
capable of handling the responsibility of moderating chat rooms. Below
are some guidelines you should follow.....
* Monitor your members activity and actions
Keep a list somewhere of people who you think would do well as a
Administrator. This way, when they do approach you about becoming an
ADMINISTRATOR , you don't have to start researching the chat rooms to
learn something about the person who is applying.
* Don't let things get carried away
If you see Administrator no longer doing their job, abusing their
position, or anything else that can create a negative environment,
handle it immediately.
* 1-2 warnings in a relatively short priveledge of time is more than enough. After that, it is time to remove the moderator.
* If a moderator is drifting away from chat rooms, remove them if it
continues after contacting them. Sometimes, a simple and friendly PM to
the moderator is all you need to get them back and focused. No need to
threaten removing them, just ask them if everything is OK. There may be
something going on that is preventing them from being active. Consider
the situation when deciding on how lenient to be.
Removing an Administrator is not the end of the world
It
is much better for the long term success of mig33 to risk losing a
problem Administrator and possibly losing a few followers, rather than
riskig losing many members and potential members by keeping the problem
around.
TO MIG33 TEAM AND ROOM ADMINISTRATORS
1. Create a simple set of rules, and be consistent with them
An active postr is not above the rules. Believe it or not, other
members notice when favoritism exists, and that often drives future
active members away.
2. Don't create a rule unless you plan on it being followed
If you are going to create it, enforce it. Think about it before you create it though.
3. Don't try to run a military boot camp with your rules in mig33 chat rooms
All rooms need organization of some sort, but don't take the fun out of
the community. At some point, too many rules creates and empty room.
4. It is not a crime to ban someone
If a user is not following the rules, and becoming disruptive, give
them the proper warnings. Be consistent, and when they cross the line,
ban them. never do permanent bans, usually just a 24 hour ban or a 2-3
day ban. The highest you should do is a 3 month ban (and the member
will anxiously wait and return with no problems). I am not saying get
"ban happy", but don't let things constantly slide either.
5. Are you consistently correcting or banning people?
Maybe you need to re-evaluate your rules and/or your role as an admin.
It is possible that it is you, your moderators, or your rules that are
the problem, not the members. don't be afraid to adjust the rules if
needed, they are not set in stone.
Some of these things you may agree or disagree with, this is simple advice
And
remember - BE PATIENT! strong community are not built overnight in most
cases. Sometimes it take over a year before your work starts paying
off. Sometimes not that long, sometimes longer.
