Outrage ... Facebook users angry at redesign

FURIOUS Facebook users are demanding the social network drop its redesign of
the massively-popular website.

A petition against the layout changes has already attracted more than 920,000
signatures and is expected to top ONE MILLION later on today. Its
organisers aim to sign up five million in support of their campaign.

Many are calling on the US firm to allow them the choice between what they say
is a "confusing" new design and the old-style which they claim is
much easier to surf around.

Five thousand comments have been posted on the petition's Facebook group
slamming the changes. Many are calling on the site's original creator Mark
Zuckerberg to step in and save them.
Horrible

Facebook addict and editor of gadget website T3.com Katherine Hannaford said: "Facebook
appears to have lost touch with its formerly loyal worshippers.

"They are all complaining about the new design via their status updates
and are ironically using Facebook's own methods of challenging big
businesses, like groups and petitions, against the site itself.

"What was once a fully-functional social networking site is now a
horrible mess, where no-one's applications are working, and the new layout
makes your eyes strain as you try to establish where simple things like your
photos are."

A spokesman for Facebook said: "The aim of the redesign was to make
Facebook simpler, cleaner, more relevant and easier to control.

"The new design takes control of Facebook’s powerful feed system to help
users share and discover more information. It makes it easier for people to
share information with their friends.

"We are constantly innovating and iterating on the site. The new design
has been a collaborative, step-by-step process and has involved users at
every stage. Nearly 30 million users have already chosen to switch to the
new site, and we actively sought user feedback during the opt-in period.

"We are incredibly lucky to have such passionate users, and since
Facebook is a part of millions of people's daily lives we understand that
users may go through an adjustment period. We do believe they will soon
learn the benefits of the new design and how it makes it easier to share the
information they want."
