War .... !!!
Posted: Sat Sep 20, 2008 6:34 am Post subject: War...
These following 2 poems are written by a friends of mine who is serving in the British Army. Due to the rules of the forum where we met i.e. folk could not PM each other and exchanging email addresses was a bannable offence - when she left - we could no longer remain in touch. I hope one day I find her again on the internet. For now I'd like to share 2 of her many poems with you.
Warriors of War
Shoulder up your weapon, and march into the dark,
Be careful of your footing, and never let out your spark,
Travel in teams, mapping destination to the path you’ll take,
Carefully each and every step, that you do forward make,
Silent cries from deep within, from the hearts of man,
Little by little we mute those cries, and do just what we can,
Where are we going to tonight, under the starry skies,
What will become of us, this war was built on lies,
So many fallen around, their spirits still a – haunting,
The road ahead is dark my friends, the task is oh so daunting,
Listen to the wind that blows the sand into our eyes,
Carry their memories close to you, and be you not surprised,
For you are just a soldier, just a number, a grain of sand,
A simple statistical weapon, sentenced to death in this land,
You signed away your soul, the minute you got on board,
Out here you are just Life’s *BEEP*, playing against Deaths Lord,
So saddle up and move on out, you have a job to do,
Be you proud, stand fast as one, do not let let darkness woo,
Pained within at things you see, burns every part of the soul,
Etched in deep with blackened voice, it is hard to control,
But yet you take it with you everywhere, morning noon or night,
For these are the memories of the screaming dead, whose lives
Were lost to this fight.
------------------------------------------------------
Those who have Fallen
O gentle warriors who have left the land,
On death's wings you are carried now,
Left to journey somewhere else,
a paradise is planned,
Ever we will remember the sacrifices you made,
Thankful of your bravery,
Your lives you willingly gave,
Speak to us on winds, let your spirits soar,
The skies are yours to own my friends,
Leave ajar Heaven's door,
Remember how we lived, remember how we died,
Remember ever second spent along lifes journey ride,
We call to you and speak the words of grief,
No more shall you suffer, this is a welcomed relief,
Be not you forgot, grieve you yet you smile,
Remain in our arms if but for a little while,
We are the dead of warring lands,
We are your fallen, still holding your hands.
RIP.

Re: War .... !!!
Both the poems are simply heart melting, marvelous and hold quite deep emotions...the first poem reminded me of my all time favorite classics... Apocalypse Now. . . I can still feel the shivers up my spine and all those feelings that i went through while i watched that movie.
Thanks for sharing such great masterpieces zayed:)
