After Recall, NEC Offers to Fix Some Laptops
Computer maker NEC is offering to repair some of its laptops for free because they could start smoking and smell like melting plastic, reports Agence France Presse in a story on on IOL.
The company on Tuesday issued a recall for up to 970 000 Lavie and VersaPro computers made between 2003 and 2006. Bloomberg reports the computers were sold in Japan.
The company says the laptops are made of fire-resistant materials,
but it has received 261 reports of smoke and the melting-plastic smell.
