Ranieri happy after tough win (Serie A)
Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri was pleased that his side finally managed to break down a stubborn Udinese outfit.
The
Bianconeri looked set to be frustrated by their counterparts until
Mauro Camoranesi and Momo Sissoko combined to see new signing Amauri
fire home the match winner to ensure Juve triumphed 1-0. "I
liked the performance, as we created many chances against a very
talented Udinese side that waited for the counter-attack," Ranieri said
after the victory, which puts them up to four points following their
opening draw against Fiorentina.
"It was very difficult to
knock Udinese down, but we kept pushing and it was important to break
that deadlock and get the three points.
"We were moving the ball around quickly, but at times should have shown less haste with some long balls. " "It wasn't easy, though, as Udinese were closing up effectively." The
former Chelsea tacticians also gave also showered glowing praise on his
hitman Amauri, who notched his first league goal for the club.
"I said at the start of the season, we signed Amauri because he can
play alongside any of our strikers and he worked very hard with a lot
of movement," enthused the manager, adding about the big Brazilian's
combination play with Vincenzo Iaquinta. "I think the partnership worked and they combined often." With
strikers Del Piero and Trezeguet only making late substitute
appearances, Ranieri hinted that they were kept fresh for their midweek
maiden Champions League encounter against Zenit St. Petersburg. "These
are professionals and understand we are fighting for several different
tournaments. These are the decisions that a Coach likes, it's not a
problem!," the ex Chelsea boss insisted.
"If one day someone
is suspended or in bad shape, then the trouble will start, but if all
four are in good condition then it can only be good for the team."
