Jose wants "Mour" goals (Serie A)
Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho felt that his side should have easily wrapped up their eventual 2-1 win over Catania.
The
Serie A champions suffered a scare when they were stunned by a early
Catania goal before seeing midfielder Sulley Muntari sent off in the
first half.
But the Nerazzuri stormed back to prevail 2-1 and claim their maiden league win of the season.
Mourinho though, felt that his side should have been more sharper in front of goal.
"In the first half, when we were still with 11 men, we played very well," he said.
"We
went behind, but the team reacted well and scored an immediate
equaliser with [new signing Ricardo] Quaresma. Catania played their
game, but the right result should have been 3-1, 4-1, or 5-1.
"I
had thought to insert more attacking players like Amantino Mancini and
Adriano in the second half, but due to the sending off it was not
possible. "
"These are three important points for us, Maicon
played a great game despite just coming back from Brazil and I didn't
think Patrick Vieira would be able to play for more than an hour."
Inter
are currently perched at the top with four points though rivals
Fiorentina and Juventus could overhaul them should they win tomorrow.
"I was not tense, not even in the first half," Mourinho continued.
"I
always try to be relaxed during games. Sometimes communicating with the
players isn't necessary, but experience tells me that when you don't
take your chances you run a big risk."
The former Chelsea and
Porto coach then took a swipe at his Catania counterpart Walter Zenga:
"I heard Zenga talk during the week and he sounded like he wanted to
come here to win, but I didn't see that on the pitch."
