Storage: The instructions, data, and results that the ALU takes in and puts out have to be stored somewhere. Thus all computers have some form of storage connected to the ALU.

Bus: The communication links between the different parts of the computer, like the ALU and storage, are called buses. Buses exist to move instructions, data, and results around to different parts of the machine.
